Victor Bennett is the father of the original three sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe, not of their half-sister Paige. However he was kept away from most of their upbringing, after his ex-wife Patty's death her mother, Penny (Grams), a powerful and domineering witch, took charge of their upbringing. He only starts to play an occasional part in their lives in a few episodes after he finds out they have discovered their magical powers. While he is a 'helpless' mortal, he warms to his paternal role and proves a cool father-in-law for Leo, with whom he shares a selfless love for the Charmed ones while basically usually pretty powerless to help them much. He also cares very much for his grandchildren, and often takes care of them when the sisters are busy fighting evil. The first time that we see the character of Victor, S1E3, he is listed in the credits as Victor Halliwell.Victor was originally played by Anthony Denison in the first season but he was immediately replaced by James Read.
